Fly to Lukla early morning. Easy descent through villages along the Dudh Koshi river to Phakding.
Cross several suspension bridges before steep climb to Namche. First glimpses of Everest if weather permits.
Important acclimatization day. Options include hiking to Everest View Hotel or exploring Khumjung village.
Climb steeply out of Namche to Mongla pass, then traverse to Dole. Much quieter than main EBC route.

Pass the first two Gokyo lakes before reaching Gokyo village on the shore of the third lake.
Pre-dawn start to climb Gokyo Ri for sunrise. Spectacular 360° views including Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu.
